You Will Earn More with CreateSpace Royalties

Your CreateSpace royalties equal the list price minus the cost of printing the book and minus the seller’s share (Amazon or CreateSpace). Amazon gets 40% of the list price if the book is sold on Amazon.com, and CreateSpace gets 20% of the list price if the book is sold on Createspace.com.

The printing cost has to be calculated, but once it is known, it is constant.

You Sell Yourself

Don’t forget personal sales at conventions, seminars, or just to friends. Subtract the printing cost of your book from the wholesale price of your book, and put the difference in your pocket.

108 pages: $15.00 - $2.15 = $12.85

150 pages: $15.00 - $2.65 = $12.35

222 pages: $15.00 -$3.51 = $11.49

The average traditionally published book sells 500 copies. I’m sure the average self published book sells even less. It is much easier to lose money on a book than it is to make money.

Minimize your expenses by doing the work yourself, and maximize your profits by publishing with CreateSpace.

For the record, I am now affiliated with CreateSpace. They republished my book The Misadventures of Russell Quigley. I was delighted with the results.
